Qiddiya Investment Company (QIC), located in Saudi Arabia, announced its plans for an innovative racetrack. This racetrack is part of the Qiddiya City mega project, intending to establish Saudi Arabia as a leading motorsport destination.
FEATURES OF THE TRACK
The track, located at the heart of a dedicated motorsport area, will feature iconic racing track design elements. Known as the Speed Park Track, it combines functionality, innovative technology, and a unique customer experience. It's set to host prestigious racing events from around the world.
Abdullah Aldawood, Managing Director of QIC, emphasised that the Speed Park Track embodies Qiddiya's "power of play" philosophy. It will establish Qiddiya City as a hub for Saudi motorsport and one of the world's leading motorsport venues. Visitors can expect an unparalleled racing experience on this exciting new racing track.
DESIGN AND LAYOUT
Designed by former Formula One driver Alex Wurz and circuit designer Hermann Tilke, the track offers a thrilling experience for race drivers. With 21 corners and leveraging the dramatic landscape of Qiddiya City, it features over 108 meters of elevation gain per lap. The highlight is the "Blade," an elevated section at turn one rising more than 20 stories above the ground.
VERSATILE CONFIGURATIONS
The Speed Park Track offers many configurations, including a street circuit section and a fast open track section. These configurations integrate with neighbouring attractions, enhancing the entertainment experience at Qiddiya.
SPECTATOR EXPERIENCE
Motorsport fans will have an exciting time with various viewing areas both around and inside the track. The surroundings of the track will include thrilling attractions, events, and experiences. These will combine the thrill of motorsports with cultural and entertainment offerings.
INTEGRATION WITH SURROUNDING ATTRACTIONS
The racetrack will integrate with surrounding attractions. These include a music venue below the "Blade" turn alongside Falcon's Flight, the world's tallest rollercoaster at Six Flags Qiddiya City. Sections of the track will also run alongside a water theme park within the city.
POWER OF PLAY PHILOSOPHY
QIC's "power of play" philosophy recognises the importance of recreational activities for human development and well-being. Studies have shown the positive effects of play on cognitive development, emotional expression, social skills, creativity, and physical health. So QIC embraces this approach within the exciting new project.
AN EXCITING PROJECT
The launch of the racetrack adds to Qiddiya City's list of exciting developments. These include the Gaming & Esports District and the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Stadium. The Speed Park Track, with its innovative features, aims to enhance the motorsport experience. It's part of the city's vision to become a global destination for entertainment and leisure. So, it is an impressive addition to the Saudi hospitality market.
